I just got my Uggalepih Offering tonight. Just wanted to mention that I had it so if there is another run for the mitts, I'm not left out :) Perhaps when a couple more people obtain the offering, we can fight the fight? I'm holding off leveling my SMN past 20 until I get them. Thoughts?

2 notes. One is to Nusakan. As a Level 55 SMN, if you don't have Mitts yet, I would like to assist you in getting them. If that means helping you get the offering, I'm all for it. I've become quite good at finding them, as especially so my casting invisibility does not agro the magic agro mobs. i.e., I can search room to room, and once I find it can bring you to it.

As I already have my Mitts and have been unable to switch to SMN, I guess that would say that I got help getting them even though I don't need to have them. Hence, If you are scheduling a party to go obtain another set, I will be there. Tell me the when and the where, and I will assist you as best I can. That goes for Trael, or Nusakan, or anyone else. I would, however, like to wrap as many up in one trip as we can.

So currently, the people with the offering are Nusakan, Takk, and myself, with a few others looking for it, and it seems many willing to help out. We'll probably need about 12 people at the very least, with lotsa black mages. I've done this once before just helping out some people one night when i was about level 68 blm. Came straight from exping in a BLM party to do this.. lol.

Three people who need it is a great start, I'd say we could easily take 5 or 6 or maybe a few more who need it and have the offering. You trade the offering to a ??? which has a respawn of about 15 minutes or so. Getting there is somewhat easy, but can be difficult. As for the fight, people lower than 65 can die very very easily as the NM spams Searing Light. The mitts are a guaranteed drop, and a bard or 3 with Light Carol would be very much welcome! (usually the policy is whoever traded the offering gets the mitts, just like optical hats or any other forced nm spawn.) I know Takk can't/doesn't play much on weekends, so it needs to be asked, "Takk, when is a good time for you to do this?" As I think my schedule is a bit more flexible.

Last time we went, we went in with 18. Over the course of the couple hours (it has a spawn timer you have to wait out) we dropped down to 12 with no significant difference in effectiveness. To give you an idea, throughout the entire thing, we probably had about 10 deaths. 2 from the NM himself when he uses Searing Light in the beginning that someone just didn't live through it. The other 8 were from clearing the room, from Statues doing Meltdown before Stun got off.

The NM is a smn type with a carbuncle pet and usually an elemental pet as well. When it is first poped it will 2 hr searing light. (have stoneskin on when you trade) It will continue to searing light at random intervals for as long as the fight lasts. At lvl 70+ tanks tend to resist the 2 hr but light carol would be a good thing just in case. Don't let that cute little blue buncle fool you, it can pack a punch ^^

I would suggest doing the offering for those who don't have it on separate days, because i hear it has a 2hr wait per offering spawn. I'd say from now til like friday, I'll be more then happy to take people to the temple via Teleport-Yhotar and provide sneak/invis while we look for the offereing. I already have my offering so I'm good to go. I'm available ususally from 6pm later on the weekdays and since i'm still having one heck of a time getting into an exp party, (i'm literally watching anime while waiting for an inivite and I manage to finish two dvds with no invites) I'll help those who need the offereing.

To be specific with what to expect:

The NM Uses Searing Light the moment it is summoned on the individual that Spawned him. Of the so odd 8 or 10 fights we did, there was one where that Searing Light was the only one, and one battle where he did it 6 times. It definitely seems random, but the point is that Everyone should be out of range of the NM while it is spawning, so only the two members get hit (the spawner and the main tank). After that, the healer have to stay on top of healing, because one Searing Light at the wrong time can cause a world of hurt.

Other than that, though, he is fairly fun and easy. After the first searing light, he'll summon a random elemental, which you can just put to sleep instead of worrying about. He goes down fairly fast, and he isn't too bad as far as rewards go.

Are we talking about carbuncle's perpetuation loss reduction on the mittens? Allakhazam and Mysterytour says 4. however, as you get higher level carbuncle's MP cost per tic goes up (and i think this rule applies to other avatars as well, I will have to check by jumping in and out of Promvyion). As of right now, if i remember right, Carbuncle for me is 4mp per tick with my light staff and 6 without. I will have to double check.

I did the same thing Trael did cept the first door i opened had the offering. Inside the tiny room was a tonberry with a light elemental facing the wall. I practically stood there for 30 seconds before he turned around. Then the light elemental casted Holy on me o.O good think blink saved me. whew...

Anyways if anyone wants to get an offering tonight, I'll come, I have a feeling I won't be invited to an exp party today so give me a /tell roughly at 6pm PST

Lyra is right. X is based on a formula--trust me, I know, 'cause I had the carby mitts way before I could wear them. I believe eventually X will be 4, but it does not start out at 4.

At level 20, X=2 and carby costs 3, so carby still costs you 1 mp per tick. At level 25, you get the MP regen ability; this allows you to have carby out for free. At level 28, carby goes up one more in cost; unfortunately, the mitts do not scale with the carby cost, so carby will again cost you 1 mp. I am currently 33 summoner, and carby still costs me 1 mp. It is possible that carby will again be free at some point with just the mitts, but it appears unlikely, since carby goes up in cost every 10 levels. I hear it is possible to have carby out for free with a light staff and carby mitts at 51, but I haven't experienced this myself personally.

As for the NM, he cheats, and big time. When he spawns he summons both an elemental (usually light, but not always) AND carby. When carby comes out, he will do Searing Light. It is not possible to avoid Searing Light unless you plan to go very far away (past the doll that spawns on the stairs leading to NM's room). In other words, if you plan to participate in the battle (as a melee or otherwise), you better be able to withstand Searing Light.

The number of Searing Lights is random, but generally he will do at least 2. BTW, most people die to his Searing Lights and specials, not to melee. He is a summoner, so he doesn't hit very hard at all, for an NM.

That's 6 people who need it who have an offering that I'm aware of. Sounds like we have enough, just need to set a time. Any time is good for me, the sooner the better. Any weeknight works, any weekend day/night works... just so long as I know in advance. Unfortunately, this weekend's events are already planned, which means if it's going to be on a weekend it would have to wait at least a week. Is Thursday night too soon? Not enough advanced notice? Let me know what you think about a time for this, especially the people I have listed, but those who would be willing to help as well ^^

From what I've heard there's a two hour spawning time between them so it may take a while and the ??? isn't really sought out for, I got it on the first door I opened.

Unfortunately Auska, if I were to schedule this event for a weekend, it would not be for quite some time, or it would interfere with one of the many tier1 events scheduled on weekends, or one of the many dynamis runs... or Takk wouldn't be able to do it, etc.. We may be able to schedule a run on a weekend eventually, though I can't give any exact dates or nearby ones.

I need my carby mitts as well, Auska, and weekends are the only time that really work for me (my static takes up the rest of my online time) so maybe we can pair up and drag some others. I don't have the offering yet but since I'm taking smn to 43 these would be nice to have.

I watched my g/f get hers recently, and geeze the Searing Light 2-hour we have to deal with has INCREDIBLE range -- if you are standing practically just outside the room you will still get hit. It's very important that we keep people's HP topped off in this.

kk, I'm going to express my understanding that it is better for this event not to be a NG event. After hearing the explanation, I agree, and please direct your question to the NG forums if that disappoints you.

That being the case, please read the calender for how to determine lots for this event. Mainly, the person that brings the offering gets the Mitts, or decides who the Mitts go to. Since this is a Rare/Ex fight, the remainder of the pool will be up for lots.

There is a little bitty tweak to that, though. There is a small chance that a Light Spirit Pact may drop. In the chance that one does drop, please note, and the best we can do is go by honor, the Light Spirit Pact can only be lotted by someone who is going to use it. This item is not intended to be a profit item, I and several others have expressed that concern. In an effort to be fair, I believe everyone that earnest helps should have a chance at it if they are truly going to use it, but I would like other members, specifically those that will never play Summoner, to have respect for our brothers and sisters that have been waiting so patiently for this item. Please do not lot if your intent is to sell.

Other than that, treat the drops as a standard skill-up party with regard to other treasures, such as Rare/Ex Quest Items that may drop, Coffer Keys, and etc.

The preferred setup is to have at least one tank (~Lv.67+ preferred) to take the initial Astral Flow and initial hate in the fight. A higher level White Mage is preferred (Raise II at least, but Raise III will be useful, as death is pretty much a 100% sooner or later throughout the course). Also, at least 1 lv.65 BLM is preferred. Most other positions can be flexible. Theif would be useful to increase the chances for more Mugwort and Light Elemental drops. Dragoon, Samurai, Ranger, can be extremely useful against this NM. RDMs and BRDs, who can do without them? The rate that the healers will have to heal it is almost a must to have MP refresh. Secondary tanks are a must on Tonberries in general. DRKs will be very useful, stun being very useful in the room clearing.

But I'm not telling anyone anything they don't already know.

I'm just emphasizing some high level Nephilim assistance would be very much appreciated.

Well, if you need a tank, hehe. I'm actually a bit smaller than Salest in lvls but I've tangled with this guy before and he doesn't hit hard. My hp is pretty high so his little astral flow doesn't bother me much, only once did his astral flow ever do a large amount of dmg to me, but still never enough to kill me.I got some extra cash kicking so I can grab some light resist gear for it as well.

We got a bit of a late start, but this went very smoothly! We were able to get 8 pairs of mitts, and only had a few deaths. The turnout for this event was AMAZING! Thank you everyone for helping out on getting the mittens and the Light spirit ^^; This gloves opens up a few opportunities for me to do things I couldn't do before. I can keep carbunkie out forever now, which might mean I may not have problems taking down EMs and VTs (that's a maybe) and also Promyion and possibly BCNMs will be a lil easier to do and MUCH easier to farm for memories. I also want to thank Shido and his team for helping in getting me a coffer key as well. ^^; One key down, 2 more to go for my AF
