We discussed setting the date early this year so we can plan for more, make reservations and everything we want. There's also another reason to start planning this early:

Holiday Savings from the Texas Renaissance Festival

With Yuletide celebrations underway, His Majesty, the King would like to offer a unique stocking stuffer for the Holiday Season.

For a limited time, The Texas Renaissance Festival offers a 17 general admission ticket package for $204.00 (that's $12 per ticket to the $21 advance or $23 at the gate).

Hurry and purchase your season tickets to the 2010 Texas Renaissance Festival before the year ends, the deadline for season's savings is midnight on New Year's Eve. (I called, and the deal is for 17 tickets, which don't have to be used as a season pass, they CAN be used by 17 people on 1 day)

The festival will be open to the public every Saturday and Sunday from October 9th through November 28th and Thanksgiving Friday, November 26th. In addition to the regular schedule the festival's School Days event will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, October 26th and 27th and the park is open exclusively to public, private and home school groups. Each weekend features its own theme, with special entertainment, contests and events to enhance the patron's experience.

Oktoberfest begins the eight themed weekends, followed by 1001 Dreams, Pirate Adventure, All-Hallows Eve,, Roman Bacchanal, Highland Fling, Barbarian Invasion and ending with the three-day Celtic Christmas celebration. Set in an authentic re-creation of a 16th century English village, the enchanted 53 acre park offers something for everyone. Costumed performers inspire continuous laughter on stages located throughout the festival with hundreds of daily performances. Over 350 shoppes, overflowing with unique arts and crafts or offering delicious foods and beverages, line shaded cobblestone walkways. Games of skill and human-powered rides amuse the young and young at heart. Lush landscaped grounds covered with beautiful gardens and vines remind all who visit of the joys of nature. A perfect day ends with the spectacular Royal Fireworks held at dusk above the festival's lake.

i have to say for the glory of Rome it should be the weekend of nov. 6-7 idk how i'm going to get there but i do know that i will be there for the 2010 party ^_^

Unfortunately it looks like I won't be able to make it this year. I used up most of my vacation days when we had the baby so I don't have much free time. This will be the first renfest I've missed in the last several years :(

We did Hallow's Eve last year and the weekend was a little cold. Of course, a week or even two weeks may not be a super big improvement, but Texas weather is never ever predictable.

I just hate to do it too early in the month because October is the border between summer and fall. Some days in Octobere can be blistering hot, but if we get the break of fall rain, we could get showers, or a day or two after showerrs it can get mighty cold.

Anyways, I say we just need anyone to step forward and tell if there is any weekend they *can't* make. Would anyone have a problem with the Pirate Weekend?

I'm not sure if I can make it in NovemberOctober. I'll be relocated to Atlanta for 3-5 months starting in June, but I'll be back in Dallas after that.

I need fast confirmations on who plans to attend this year. I have an offer to purchase 17 tickets now, $12 a ticket. Saving $10 per person might be worth it.

Workload in general. I don't know of anything specific going on during the given date, except that I'll be in school. I won't know for a few months exactly how busy my program will be keeping me, so don't worry about including me in the discounted tickets; if I can go, I'll pick 'em up myself as soon as I know for sure.

And I dunno about the wife thing. Doing that might throw off the synergy we had between all the guys. :consider:

By the way, I *was* putting my shoes too close to the fire last year. I noticed a few weeks after I got back that the front of my soles were all melty.

We arrive at camp on Friday afternoon, go to the festival Saturday, stay up for the bonfire, etc that night and break camp Sunday morning to head home.

Edit: I'm going to start watching Galactica. Well, right now, I'm watching Caprica (getting DVDs sent to me using Netflix), but I'm getting a bit impatient (it's good, but I'm really wanting to get into BG). Should I try to catch up to the current season of Caprica before watch BG, or is it "OK" to just start watching the latter?
