Ok so I was watching TechTV yesterday while doing some of my HW at home. And they reviewd this new internet browser called Firefox. It has just hit 1.0 and I'm using it now as I type this, and so far I LOVE IT. So far I havnt gotten 1 pop up add. Another thing Tech TV says, that you cant get all that crappy spy-ware stuff from it because, spyware is programed to go through IE. So now you dont have to worry about stuff being downloaded that you dont know about. And of course, IE has tones of flaws that viruses hit, well that wont happen in Firefox due to it being programed differently. Another good thing is webpages load soooooooooo much faster using this, because you dont have to load all the crap IE does before hand. There are also tones of plug-ins for this I'm told, but I havnt gone looking yet. Some pages though will look a little odd on FF1.0, but so far I think i can live with it. I suggest everyone trying it out, its free and only 4.7 megs to download. Here's the link. Enjoy!

True, but I have stuff to help with that, so I'm not too worried.

I'm not aware of Mozilla inclucing any spyware. Maybe you are thinking of Netscape which uses a modified version of Mozilla and includes AOL stuff such as AIM? Mozilla, btw, is the open source project consisting of the the browser, mail reader, etc. Firefiox is the browser component of the Mozilla suite.
I've been using Firefox for nearly a year now (the various pre-1.0 releases) and it is a very nice browser with some nice features and have some technological advantages over IE, but one of the more important feature is security which is an improvement over IE's.

Firefox absolutely kicks ***. I've been using it for about half a year now.
Once you start using it, you'll PITY those who still use IE.
BTW did you know that there is a Final Fantasy XI Clock plugin for it!?
It's so nifty!!
I can be browsing the web and instantly know what time it is without loading the clock page :)

OH for those of you who don't know the PLEASURE of the FIREFOX CLOCK AND SKILLCHAIN PLUGINS
Here you go:
FFXI Firefox Extensions (http://ffxi.xenoveritas.org/tools/)
Now, for you FireFox new users - when you try to install these plugins, you'll get a message at the top of the screen that it has been denied. You need to click on the link up there and allow the website permission to install the plugin. Once you do, click the link again, it will install, and then at the bottom right of your screen, you'll have exactly what I do by my clock! :)
I'm playing with attachments for the first time on this post so hopefully you will see my screenshot...
They also have a skillchain calculator. I don't play with my FFXI Windowed, so I have not checked out that plugin, as I don't think I'd find it useful to look up skillchains while I'm NOT playing :)
-edit fixed my awful attachment image... BTW kudos to whomever manages this forum! I love the setup!! :)

Right-clicked on the plugin (that I already had installed), chose to visit homepage:
http://ffxi.xenoveritas.org/tools/vanaclock/
Install button is in upper left, you'll need to restart Firefox (shut down all instances of Firefox) before it works.
I like Firefox for reading forums because it lets you open up links in tabs. So instead of cluttering up the taskbar with a zillion open windows that you intend to read, it just makes nice little tabs within the browser. :)
I'm not so impressed with Firefox's rendering capability yet though. If I code up a simple web page that includes a style definition for a DIV, and then create a DIV in the body, the DIV goes way off the page to the right instead of fitting to the browser. Sometimes DIVs don't even show up!
It's not perfect but it's a good start.

This is because FF does not support Active X, which is a Microsoft onry application for IE, and just about everyone and their mother encodes things on the internet with it. but I see this being fixed sometime in the near future.

DIV's are activex-based?! o_O
Seriously though, an easy 5000gil to whomever can tell me why the divs don't show up @ this URL (if it's a fixable problem in my web page coding, that is):
http://www.thundaga.com/megameet
View it in both IE and in Firefox, and you'll notice a huge difference -- 3 of the 4 divs aren't rendered with color/border/alignment/spacing etc.
