Between balancing everyone wanting to do Mission 5/1 and then Rank 6, and then the wants of everyone to participate in the next great LS event, I have to say I will have to plan LS wide for the next great LS event, and localize the event for 5/1. Layman's Terms: Mission 5/1 will be setup one-on-one for participants, But Here are the details for the next LS Event!
The Nephilim Goblin Relay
There will be a number of teams decided by the number of people that want to participate, Relay Teams will consist of 4 members each. This will be a tricky and trying race, and high level members are suggested. Each team will take the agro of a goblin and meet at the Konschtat Valkurm zone. It is suggested for high levels only, because the point of the race is to relay the goblin from one end of the zone to the other, back to the start, and to the end of the zone again.
The first team member will be holding the agro of the goblin until the start of the race (As advice, Sleep works well to hold agro while waiting, you just might not want to sleep the gob right before the go). On go, the first teamate from each team will run its goblin to the Gustav Tunnel Zone, where teammate 2 will be waiting to take the agro away from teammate 1. Teammate agros the goblin and teammate 1 zones, then teammate 2 runs back to the Konschtat Zone with the goblin. Then, to end, Teammate three will be waiting at the Konschtat zone to take the agro away from teammate 2 while teammate 2 zones, then teammate 3 will run the goblin back to the Gustav zone!
That may seem like a long distance to travel while maintaining agro, but it isn't nearly as hard as most think. There are a couple of tricks to this match:
The first is that the goblin your team ends the match with MUST be the same goblin that your team started the race with. If your original goblin dies, your team loses. It isn't a relay race unless you are relaying the gob, so you'd be disqualified for losing it.
Any team that interfers with another teams gob is automatically disqualified. You may think that this wouldn't be possible, but there are ways to sabotage another teams race. i.e. Anyone that heals a runner to steal the agro from the runner will be disqualified, and if a team outruns the gob and loses the claim on the mob, then you kill or steal the goblin from them, then you are also disqualified. That's not to say you are safe if you outrun the mob and lose the claim, as participants aren't the only ones that can steal a mob. It would be a good idea to take precautions to maintain claim on your mob (occasionally spamming of provoke, etc.)
Well, as it was, there was concern with training linking goblins. So I have devised a master plan.
There are, if you noticed from before, four man teams. There are, however, only 3 runners per team. What does this fourth man do then?? The fourth man is the Train De-Railer. This is a VERY IMPORTANT teammate, and here's why:
When the teams make it to the the Gustav Zone for the second time and initialize a trade with me (the finish line), I will only accept the trade if they have ONLY ONE GOBLIN. If there is a train, then I will refuse trade until the train is gone. And I do not mean killed, I mean gone, they can not be anywhere near. The Train De-Railer will have to find a way of taking all of the train off of the runner except the Relay Goblin!
Everyone knows the goblins of Valkurm fairly well, like what you can and can't do to keep agro, which goblins might be better than others for speed, or other goblins for survivability, etc. I'll leave these discussions to teammates, you can discuss among yourselves, how to do it, and maybe even get some practice in.
Race Time: 6 PM PST
Race Date: Thursday, June 17th, 2004
Entry Fee: 5,000 gil per team (not per player, per team)
The purse for this race:
80,000 gil !
:longjaw:
to the winning team
(part will be LS funding, but the majority comes from me) I really want to make this race a success!
