Since this is a BC fight @ the top of Riverne Site #A01, this is a bit more tricky to do than forming an alliance for PM2-3. The best I can do for this is give you some basic guidance (see below), and let you guys form your own parties of 6 to take this on. As such, this thread is more of an FYI than anything else. Please post below if the list above isn't accurate.

As always, I am happy to join if you find yourself in need of a RDM or SMN.

Read below for major points to be aware of when attempting PM2-5:

Riverne Site #A01: Level 40 cap

The BC fight @ the top is also Level 40 cap, and takes place in a zone called Monarch Linn. There is an uncapped waiting area before going into the fight, similar to the Spire in Promyvions.

To get to Monarch Linn, you need two "giant scales" which drop from Firedrakes (wyverns) in Riverne Site #A01. They range from Tough to IT, and a competent party of 6 can handle them. They aren't too rare of a drop (anywhere from 1-6 kills drops one, it seems like, but /THF doesn't hurt). Firedrakes also drop the usual Wyvern goodies (skin, wing, etc), which always make these runs worthwhile ^^. With lack of refresh at level 40, mages should bring ginger cookies to eat each time they sit down to rest -- it adds MP healing +5.

Giant Scales are used to open up Unstable Displacements so that your party can go through. There are two of these on the way up, and giant scales disappear once used.

There are true-sight mobs in Riverne Site #A01, but they aren't too difficult.

The BC fight itself is a battle against 3 mobs which are all the same. They change jobs frequently, have special moves that require teamwork to deal with, and have plenty of HP each. The main key strategy employed by parties beating this BC is keeping the mobs separated (i.e. via kiting or blink-tanking), while the rest of the team unleashes hell on one of the mobs. The fight gets exponentially easier once the first mob is dead.

This BC requires serious preparation and teamwork. I recommend dry runs before the real deal (WHM reraises, expect to die, don't use items, figure out strategy for your team first-hand, etc).

Part of that preparation includes stocking up on Yellow Liquids. This is an item sold in AH (misc -> other I think) that, when used, locks a PM2-5 BC mob's job in place for a little while. Some jobs are easier to deal with than others (BLM job is horrible as they spam ga's, WAR job has dangerous double-attack and strength, the rest are easier and not as potent). Yellow Liquid drops from the BC mobs themselves so there's a bit of a Catch-22 in obtaining them. If you plan to do PM2-5 BC, start buying up the Yellow Liquids that you find in AH ahead of time (3k each I think).

Ninja is a must imo. Rangers help a ton too. WS -> IC Wing -> WS -> EES -> Barrage = uber damager. Also, those that have limit points...there's a glitch in the xp in capped zones. Those with limit points turned on will get full limit poinst opposed to those getting half experience points. Nice bonus while farming up there. ^^ Also, I have 2 giant scales I can use for the trip up there.

I don't know if I was happily blink tanking away. When it changed to WAR or BLM my first reaction was "OH GOD! Please change!!!" hehe It was a fun challenge though. Good luck on this one guys. Its definitely tough.

I know it's probably a LS comes first thing, and I respect that, just figured I'd let you know that i'm always ready to join in on anything involving COP.

I'm currently on PM2-5 also, so if there's a spot needed for a rng/nin, i'm there definitely, 100%. I'm available anytime friday, i work 8-5 on sat. (eastern) and i'm available sunday. Cerpintaxt sent me a /tell tonight saying he was going to try gettin it going, i was willing to join but i was in the shower at the time he tried asking ; ; anyways like i said, i've got gear ready, and anything needed on stand-by. :D

However, myself Amary, Celest, and (naked) Nusa went up to the Riverne just to mess around. We actually got half way through it, and got the 2 scales we needed np. I imagine navigating through this zone is easy; the BC is what is hard.

Anyway, I'm up for this (blm of course) anytime, so just give me a /tell. I may try to organize one of these this week, though not sure if people are willing / I won't be doing BCNM40. get the custscenes you need, get everything prepared because you may just get a /tell from me soon ;p

This is the Mission after Minotaur, rite? I still need to talk to the ppl to FINISH that mission. I'm certainly interested in doing this. I have drk and thf past 40, and i think imma push my nin (currently 22) so that maybe i can do this thing, because i don't know if anyone will want my thf or drk for the BCNM (nobody does lol). I've been considering lvling RNG too though, b/c i got 140 beastman seals, and BCNM with drk or thf is a lot more risky than Worm's Turn. So, if u want thf or drk, rdy anytime. If u want nin, I can't expect to be lvl 40 too soon, but i'll try. Either way, I'd like to explore the zone, and also i'd like to do another Subligar Hunt, so if u guys wanna do it, i'm always up for it ^^.

Correct!! This is a 6-person kinda mission. Very doable with 6 people all the way through.

You can go through the zone with an alliance of course, however, there is one small little island with about 5-6 Hyppogryphs which are true sight, and you most likely need to kill them. These gave me (being exactly level 40) 200xp per kill; we chained them up to 280 before we could move on. It's a nice little gain of XP; accumulated about 1k.

As far as the BC fight, nope no alliance allowed, so get a stable team together, and do some reasearch! Goodluck guys!

FYI, here's a proven party setup for 2-5 BC:

PLD DD DD WHM Kiter/Soloer Kiter/Soloer

The attack team on the left is responsible for destroying the mobs one at a time, while the kiter/soloers each are responsible for keeping the other two mobs at bay until the attack team is ready to take over.

I say PLD instead of NIN because of the immense amount of dmg that the DD's will be unleashing in order to kill the first mob as fast as possible. I have gone through this twice with the DD's as BLM and RNG and that has worked pretty good having both nukes and physical dmg on tap.

So far, I've seen that Kiter/Soloers can be NIN or SMN. I imagine BST would work just as well as a SMN. I'm not confident in RDM being able to kite simply because these mobs resist a bit. I would recommend a max of 1 SMN/BST kiter simply because the arena may not allow for 2 kiters without overlapping kiting paths with the attack team or other kiter, which could be bad as there is a lot of AOE flying around. NIN can simply stand there away from the attack team and kiting path, and tank a mob endlessly if he/she is good at NIN and has several yellow liquids.

There's probably a lot of other ways to handle 3 mobs like this. 1 PLD and 5 SMN? That would probably do the trick lol.

Yup, DD as rng, and blm is a must for when they do their special little abilites. (Either physical, or magic attacks cure them, depending which one they use.)

It gives STR +3 DEX +4 rare/ex (forgot def) lvl 41 req all jobs. It's pretty nice, and I'd like to at least find out WHERE it drops. Also, are we going to try another subligar hunt?

After a long long long loooong run around aimlessly looking for the gate to Riverne site @A01 btw way Lucrecia I found out last night that it said where we needed to go in our mission log.. ;_: anyway it was still fun. well seeing that these missions are requiring specific jobs though i know i could still join in as DD with my DRK, but i want to be more useful by doing blink-tanking(nin/war ,war/nin), Uber dmg dealine (RNG), Carby pulling (SMN), our TH (THF). Cause I would be more excited and thrilled to know I have greater purpose then just swinging my weapon around :P thats why i love those prom runs... <3 tanking for the greater good :)

So from this day foward... I'm going to finish lvling my WAR and THF which is @ 34 atm, SMN (10), (RNG (14) and my nin (18) and get them all to 40.. i know it will be hard and long but if doing this will enable me to help my LS more in passing these PM's then I'm more then happy to accomplish this.

Looks like most likely you'll probably need to call upon some tanks that have already done PM2-5. We seem to have a lot of the other roles filled but not tanks. I wonder if Lyramion has his NIN leveled to 40? That would be helpful for filling KITER role. Once one more group or two finishes PM2-5, the pool of people to choose from to fill the empty slots will be pretty big and diverse!

Bottom line? Those interested in 2-5 need to just post what well-equipped level-40 jobs they have available for this, and those that wanna lead some attempts can just pick out the people they need for the roles to be filled.

Nah, did it level 20 avatar fight style. Get an initial burst of hate from Leviathan's Tail Whip or something similar (Tail Whip better since it induces Gravity), retreat and take the mob to the far corner, re-assault. Run away until Avatar is out of sight (and then some), spam Carby summon. Repeat using Carby for as long as needed.

Ideally you won't get hurt at all. ^^ Just gotta have the summoning magic skill up there so carby can hit and get hate back each time you resummon.

Nah it's not hard to kite as a smn at all, the only thing you need to worry about is hate and how much MP you have. DO NOT cast anything other than your avatar and BP(you'll get slight hate) or else that mob is going to be in your face for a while.

It's HUGE. I kite from entrance area to the back corner of the arena. That works. Two kiters might be problematic if you cross paths though since the mobs do AOE attacks of some form or another, but it's probably manageable.

Just important to let the healers know NOT to help the kiters (and get unnecessary hate) -- they are in their own little worlds for a while.

I'd love to come and do this. This is happening sunday? I have THF and DRK at 40 and i can equip them for the battle. The only problem is that most people don't like either job for BCNM style battle. The one thing I CAN offer is Stun, which BLM don't have yet, I don't know how useful this is, but it could stop any problematic spells...

PM 2-5 was a success! The only two died was myself and Scorpius but we kinda died at the right time too. Scorpius died when the party just killed the first MOB and i died... because i sat around too close to the last mob

GOD! it feels good to do missions again! Needed to temporarily do something other than EXP grinding lol. Thank you everyone for attending. That was also pretty cool that our dry run became the actual fight. ^^;


Unfortunatly 8 Carbuncles 2? Tiger Familar, a Summoner, and a Beastmaster was killed in the process of the fight ;_; but Kiting was extremely fun. The zone was big but was still cutting it close for me to kite around. /em shrugs Lol also reminds me of Fleshcravers..... >.>

But seriously, this was a lot of fun. I just wish i had done a Zilart Mission or two. Of course I don't have rank 6, so this it's irrelevant anyway. Hope to do more fun events with Nephilim (though the group was less than 50% Neph lol).

Also... I had an idea. I asked about NMs in the zone, and heard about one that drops Jaeger Ring... It has 9 copies, and all have a chance to drop the ring. However, it has a 24 hr spawn timer. BUT i was wondering...

If you kill only SOME of them, will the others respawn rather quickly or not respawn for 24 hr?? If they respawn soon if there is at least one survivor, maybe there could be a Nephilim event based on this.

I'm not a member, so I don't expect to host, however if one took an alliance down there, and killed 9 of them, then zoned, waited for the rest to respawn, then came at the NMs again we could farm the ring for the entire alliance. From what I hear it is almost as good as sniper ring with Acc +4, Racc +4 (don't know if there are -stats, can't find info on ring) and it is rare/ex. This would be pretty nice, especially if everyone could get a ring :D. If people think this is a good idea, maybe I'll post it somewhere else where more ppl will be likely to read it (this may be better tho, b/c ppl reading this have access to the Riverne Site #A01).

Anyways, let me know what you think. Good idea, bad idea, whatever. Hope to see some guys on 3-5 ^^.

SMN kiting requires decently high summoning skill for the level cap -- carby has to last long enough in between resummons, and carby has to be able to hit accurately to get hate back after you resummon each time. Carby mitts helps a lot also since you don't have to worry about jugging ethers or anything like that.

In this particular fight, it's nice to have the other two mobs being fought/distracted away from the SMN kiter's kiting path to avoid AOE also which would trip up the kiting.

yuh, update the post and throw me in as someone who has it done but is willing to help others do it. this was one of the funnest fights I've been a part of in awhile. Also, if you guys plan a run for it, well yer gonna need alot of hipotions and I just happen to be able to make them. Made near 25 for when we did ours. So if you guys give me a day or 2 notice and are willing to come and farm some vines with me, I'm more than happy to synth you the hipots. Only costs about 500gil to make one as opposed to the 2k they make you pay on AH >>;
