Coffers

After going through a few coffer hunts, I noticed something which I'm wondering whether others have also. While there are multiple coffer spawning points and coffers are supposedly spawned randomly, there seems to be certain spots that are more popular than others.

For example, on the day I was searching for the Kuftal coffer, the coffer spawned at the exact same location 3 consecutive times (I lost out on the first two and didn't say after I got it on the 3rd try). Since then, I've ran past the location about 3 times and it's been there 2 out of 3. It could be coincidence, but I started noticing it also at Quicksand caves. I'm not saying they always spawn at the same place, but that certain places seems have a higher percentage chance of spawning.

Also, I don't know about other coffers, the Kuftal coffer seems to spawn every 20 minutes. I noticed this after losing the first two coffers to other hunters 20 minutes. Finally, i waited at the spawning point after the second person opened the coffer and pretty much at the exact 20minute mark, the coffer re-appeared at the same spot.

Sounds like a lot of luck on the location, congrats. The timer though is supposed to be 24 minutes, half a day Vanadiel time. If that helps, but I doubt that's really what you were looking for.

The spawn times seems to be pretty random at different locatins. At crawler's nest, I saw coffer spawn twice in 10 minutes. I did ask some JPN players and they said that in one of the patches SE reduced the time between spawns, but it's still random. I suspect different areas have different range or spawn time.

Isnt the coffer suppose to spawn within 10 min if it was opened for a quest item? (ie. AF)

Anyone in the link still need coffer keys? In a day or 2 I will be going on mad skill up and I'd rather be helping a ls-mate than a random /shout in Jeuno. Coffer keys for maps (if someone is really bored lfg) are also valid and extreemly nice to have in the end. If the area is low enough (quicksands, crawlers) I can tank it ^^ If its a place like davoi, castle O, quadav land (beudeux sp?*) then I'll need a real tank ... maybe a rdm will volunteer. :grin:

Only coffer i need key for is in the temple of hell...uh excuse me Uggalepih but I think I will have to wait until we have a LS event or some people go for the ZM or something becasue I heard it is a nightmare in this place. :mad:

That place isnt TOO bad, but uh yeah. The mobs for the key arnt that bad, and we can also hunt for keys/lanterns/testimonies *including rdm*. So maybe we'll have an event day soon or something for that zone.

This place is not as bad as you make it sound. Lotta magic aggro so oils and powders are good.... The tank will have to had done the tonberry hate-clearing-quest so that every hr or so they can clear hate and not get one hit ko'ed. THF testimony can also be obtained here. Keys drop fairly easy. I got one while doing WM 7-2. (just need a box for a map)

Thats good to hear I have heard nothing but horror stories about this place, I was talking to some people from KillingIfrit and some were even calling this the worst coffer in the game. But then again you know how people can exaggerate things.

And to Shido, yeah it would be nice to do this as an event I just havent mentioned it becasue I still have not hit level 58 yet and also I was waiting to see if anyone needed to go there for anything else so I could just tag along.

Remember that many people attempting this are around level 58-60 so the mobs can be difficult especially if there are links (the rooms with tons number 6-8, i think and they're in the hallway all the way to the zone). There are a few reasons why this coffer has such of terrible reputation but one of the main reason is probably that this coffer is extremely hard to solo by the person looking for the coffer.

The key droppers are like any other key dropping mobs in terms of difficulty and although the Tons uses throat stab, they will turn to the next party member as soon as they hit the tank. Getting to the key droppers isn't that difficult for a party as long as they work together and bring oils and potions. The camp is in a safe location right near a zone.

Once you have the key, that is when most of the nightmare begin for most people because of all the doors. It is very difficult to stay invisible because you have to remove invis in order to open doors and there are usually Tonberries near by each door. Even the room where the coffers are have the potential to spawn a Ton, so you really can't camp safely in the a room for a coffer spawn. The good news is that the Tons on the coffer side are easier then the key side so not even a full party is needed to take one down (even 2 is enough), but it's a lot of fighting if you attempt to do it that way.

If you have a high level who can open doors and cast invis/sneak for you then it's a breeze, but most of the posting from before comes from when high level help was pretty scarce.

Yeah I have done alot of research on this and that is why I'm hopeing I can not only get the key with the LS but get the coffer as well to save me the headache of trying to solo the coffer.

I still pulled aggro in most of this zone @72 unless there is some weak area I don't know about. Haven't been back @74 so maybe it is better If that's the case, I would be happy to be a door opener. As for casting on you... magic aggro <no thanks>

Well its good to see there is some interest in this, I know this is not for an event yet but maybe if enough people need to go here for any reason I can talk to Sari about it and try to put something together(again thats if enough people need to go otherwise I can wait until this comes up as an event)

Oh come come Shido I know deep down you really want to solo "he-who-must-not-be-named" aka Guivre. It only takes a full alliance of 70's to win so it should be a breeze for you!

If I remember correctly, the spawing time for the Kuftal coffer is about 20 minutes. I would suggest that if you are leveling in Kuftal whenever there are some downtime ask to be sneaked (but make sure you're carrying silent oils also) and make a coffer run. Keep in mind that you need to be careful of agros 'cause being killed will make it hard on your party. However, if you're lucky you might just get the coffer through the natural course of partying.

Just an update to this, I went looking for this coffer last night but as Mel so kindly informed me I went the wrong way. All I know is that I saw this tiger and he hit me for like 288 points :sadsad: but oh well I'm going to look at the map again. Ok i dont have a map(need the coffer for that also) and the ones I found for this one on the internet are confusing, is the coffer on the first map and if not do you reach another map by going up and down the sand hills?

most coffers are on the main map (up top where you will find crabs, worms, cactus guys, maybe some ghostys) There are about 2 points you can not get to unless you go down past the rock that acts like a flame spout. These typically get picked off when ~lvl 70pts are down there. I would suggest you stick to the main map where all you need is sneak (there are goblins up here but if you see them you went the wrong way as there are no coffers in this area) If you want to brave the depths you will need invis as all monsters down there are sight aggro.
