The following have been agreed upon as the official policies and suggested etiquettes of Nephilim:
Curse language, vulgarity, and prejudice against any persons for race, gender, nationality, creed, or otherwise, is severely frowned upon. Isolated occurences aside, if an offense is taken, the offense will be warned, and if it continues, may be ground for breaking of pearl. Note: the "gay" family of words (including "queer", "fag", and other related words) have been added to the offensive word list.
Begging for help, items, or gil has been added the the list of offensive behavior. Asking for assistance is not prohibited, but such requests are preferred to be made in Tells. Please do not beg in the LS chat. It goes without saying that LS members will help each other out, but it should be understood that help should not be expected from anyone, and asking repeatedly bothers some members. Also, be aware, most players aquired what they have through much hard work. Please make attempts to fill your own needs before beseeching others to help. Earnest efforts are commended and rewarded.
Any player wishing recruitment must be supported by at least five different current members of Nephilim, and no votes against their persons. The idea is that the player wishing to join must have a history of working with the Link Shell, have support to their personal character, and no instances of argument or impropreity towards Nephilim.
No Pearlsacks will be created for any member, only one person has the ability to give a pearl. If a recruit is agreed upon and the Shell Holder is not available, then the individual waits. If they have no patience, it would be better not to deliver them a pearl otherwise. This is a founding premise and was an unaminous decision. Only unaminous vote can impeach this ruling.
If a pearl ends up in the hands of a player that has not filled the set application for recruitment, then the player will be removed from the Link Shell at the soonest convenience. No Nephilim Pearl can be given to any player without a proper vote of character.
Multiple Link Shells are not prohibited. A Nephilim Member is welcome to have as many different Link Shells as they like, with one exception. Under no circumstance is a Nephilim Member to insult by action or word any other member of Nephilim, even if it is required or being done by the opposing Link Shell.
Disagreements are to be settled by a jury of three piers, selected at the time of disagreement. The argument is told to the three judges via Tells, no part of the argument is to be held in the Link Shell. After hearing the argument, the judges will make a ruling on the argument, which is entirely binding. If the argument persists inside the Link Shell, or a participant in the argument refuses to be bound by the ruling, improper behavior will be warned, and if not corrected, is grounds for breaking of pearl.
Privacy of conversations is paramount. Discussions had in linkshell chat are not to be spread outside the linkshell. Results of recruitment, especially in the case of a "No" Vote, are between the recruitment officer and the recruit. In general, discussions should not be spread to individuals not a part of the discussion. Do not try to mediate disputes or step in the middle of arguments.
Any time an argument between Nephilim and another Link Shell arises, such as in Player vs. Player battles and disputes or other conflict of interests, if a Nephilim member is a member of the opposing Link Shell as well, they are expected to be neutral in the conflict.
Some members may wish to delve into personal information, including revealing real names, origin cities, state or countries, personal hobbies, habits, or beliefs. While Nephilim does not restrict that freedom to reveal your own information, Nephilim frowns on requesting or pushing for information from others, including real names, age, sex, class, or beliefs, if a person does not wish to reveal that information. First and foremost, Nephilim respects each player's privacy, and may take steps if invasions of privacy occur. New members are encouraged to share only the information they are comfortable sharing. No member should be treated differently for not sharing information, and if anyone witnesses a members being treated poorly because they would not reveal personal information, then the offending party is to be repremanded.
Nephilim does not permit Ambassador Pearls. While we recognize the wishes of some leaders of other linkshells to address the members of Nephilim directly, either professionally or personally, any communications can be had in game or through forums without a Nephilim Pearl. As above, no pearl will be given without a person fulfilling the full recruitment process.
When given the choice between persuing self gratifiying terms and fulfilling honorable terms, the member of Nephilim fulifills honorable terms. This includes AH mistakes where someone obviously overpays for a item, but includes any transaction or mistake in another persons' favor. Nephilim members will NOT take advantage of other people, regardless.
Feel free to discuss these rules, or suggest modifications or additions to them. These are our rules, not my rules. Rules are made by majority decision of the LS.
