Those Durangos must not be all that sturdy...friend of mine had a deer leap off of an overpass and onto the roof of his Surburban while he was going down the road. One hoof punched thru the sunroof; deer pulled it out, jumped off the roof, and took off. He had a heck of a time explaining it to his insurance company.
The boat pic is awesome. Thats good aim, lol.

lol awesome pics ayban~
Deer are wierd like that...seriously. They like, jump at you instead of away...maybe it was trying to defend itself, or maybe just get away...who knows. Either way...it would suck to have one jump through your windshield and nuzzle you on your way somewhere...
That Diablo didn't look all the bad from the front, but the back was pretty messed up, and the Mercedes barely resembles anything, much less an automobile anymore.
lol, the boat is funny though...makes me wonder if the driver screamed like in the cartoons til it stopped right in front of his face... probably just bailed right away, lol. Btw, on the side of the boat it says "Temporary Insanity II"...lmfao maybe this is not the first boat he's done this to?
And the bottom one, with the trucks.../sigh this just proves to me again why I shouldn't see soccer moms driving Expeditions or Hummers around town...it's only a matter of time before they run over my car, or someone elses...
*kids screaming in the background*
Soccer Mom >> Ooo that was a big speed bump kids... Who wants McDonald's?
Screaming Kids >> Yay!! me me me me me!
:surprise:

hehe, nice pics. But umm, that boat tow one where the truck is over the side of the cliff. Did anyone else notice that there's a girl still in the drivers seat while it's hanging over the edge, or are my eyes playing tricks on me? Not the first place I'd want to be >>;

well, deers are stupid, in the way of their escape methods..
ad when you have a vehicle going 60+ mph, and a 300-500 lb deer, Force = mass x velocity......... convert mph to kps
it's gonna hurt..

Not to mention the braking distance calculation. At that high of a speed, even braking wouldn't really save you from a head on collision with a deer. Forgot the calculation, what was it again?

actually... that's momentum. F=ma, p=mv

lol, i wasnt gonna say anything about that... but my masters degree is in physics so i decided to, then alathar beat me to it ^^b

What kinda physics?
What kinda physics?
High energy, ie, high energy astrophysics (www.auger.org) and high energy particle collisions (www-cdf.fnal.gov)

300-500lbs DEER? Good Lord where do you live? Biggest I've ever killed was like 250lbs before it was field dressed. 184lbs after.

O nice. Is Pierre Auger still on schedule? Like first reports out next month?
This is a catch-and-release, right? Ya know, unless you're eating those particles, you should turn 'em loose. lololol
Layman questions about cosmic rays though: Is there any particular current they're hitting us in, or do they just come from every direction at once? As in, is the direction they're traveling coincide with directions the galaxies are moving away from each other; like can you tell from their propagation where the center of the universe used to be?

not sure of the public reports, but as of now, its still being built. they have had it up and partially running for a few years now though. as for the direction of incoming particles, that depends on the energy levels you are studying. for the high high lvls that we are hoping for (thats why the array is soooooo huge) we havent seen much of a source for any of these particles...considering 1 cosmic ray shower per month would be amazing results (above 10^20 eV). basically, they dont have quite enough statistics to make a founded statement at this time. oh, and btw, im out of grad school now and not working on either of those experiments anymore ^^. im working for a contractor of the Z-machine at sandia nat'l labs. www.sandia.gov... /breathe ok...now i can go home and play some ffxi...i hope.

deers can range that big.
and ya, I was gotten on the force, I forgot that it was acceleration >.<;
4 years of physics and then 2years away from it, guess it started to fade in my head
