This information might be useful in the WS or MB section. I'm jotting this down as a note to myself also. ^^
There's a limited number of monster classes in FFXI (as many people often complains about), but the limited number also makes it a little easier to remember a mob's weakness as long as you know what class it belongs to.
---------------------------
Weak against FIRE (Liquidfaction):
Bomb, Skeleton, Hound, Ghost, Weapon, Sapling, Tiger, Morbal, Mandragora, Shadow
Weak Against ICE (Induration):
Yagudo, Beetle, Pugil, Crab, Lizard, Fly, Bird, Spider, Scorpion, Crawler, Mandragora, Tonberry, Bee.
Weak against WIND (Detonation):
Worm, Bat, Lizard, Mandragora, Dhalmel, Cockatrice
Weak against Earth (Scission):
Manticore
Weak against LIGHTNING (Impaction):
Quadav, Rabit, Pugil, Sheep, Crab, Tiger, Spider, Crawler, Mandragora, Tonberry, Doll
Weak against WATER (Reverberation):
Orc, Rabbit, Raptor
Weak against LIGHT (Transfixtion):
Goblin, Worm, Beetle, Bat, Funguar, Hound, Ghost, Weapon, Leech, Scorpion, Shadow
Weak against DARK (Compression):
Rabbit, Sapling, Crawler, Mandragora
---------------------------
When we're in party, we normally try to do a level 2 skill chain (Graviation, Distortion, Fragmentaion, and Fusion). Determining which one is most effective is the same as with level 1 skill chain and we just have to remember which two elements makes up the level 2 skill chain.
For example, Distortion is a Water/Ice element so it is effective against mobs weak to either water or ice.
Something that confused me early on was that I forgot that combining two level 1 skill chain creates a level 2 skill chain with different elements. For example, Transfixion(light)-to-Scission(earth) makes Distortion(water/ice) and not light/earth.
