"1UP: Are you looking to do something similar with Black Mages? A recent trend has been these "Manaburning" parties where five Black Mages (and a tank to hold hate) all cast Blizzaga 3 and kick (arguably) too much ***, too fast. Black Mages can hit level 75 in no time using this strategy.

HT: The Black Mages have been way too strong and ever since we released the game, and we've been trying to make them weaker. But as you know, players always find creative ways to get around this (laughs). But as for what we're going to do in the future, we're planning to continue to look to those Black Mages and continue to adjust them. "

hehe See Asu!(If he reads this >.>;;)

Yep, they were next on my list for nerf as well. MNK was 2nd :P

I read this earlier today, and I am also beginning to understand why SE nerfed RNG so much. I have been reading posts on KI forums, and it looks like /war is the new strat for HNMs. In that interview, it was mentioned something along the lines of, "RNG were too good at everything." I do not completely agree with this statement, however, I think I see what he meant by it:

RNG were able to do too much dmg w/o repercussions. Most RNG subbed NIN and didn't have to worry about dying when pulling hate. Now, RNG have to become better better at controlling hate. So ... we deal with it, b/c I doubt SE will give RNG anything back.

In all honesty Ala, that nerf did nothing what so ever about rng and enmity. In fact, controlling hate is LESS of a problem now, with the -enmity utsusemi gives when being hit, paired with the lowered damage. Hate control {what?}.

They don't have the balls to nerf BLM.

Not only speaking from the perspective of a BLM....but from the perspective of a HNMLS: BLM's are basically the last line of Damage against HNM's.. If they some how manage to take us out of the picture..We'll have to rely on the DRG's for DD!!!

/agree

some minor nerfs I can see possible though are:

1. make timing on MB more critical. i.e. the better timed the MB, the more damage it does.

2. Have magic attacks give TP. This would give mobs alot of TP for strong nukes, but on the flip side it would have to give us TP for getting nuked as well.

Just a little brain food, but I dont see any major BLM nerfs possible.

Lower damage is compensated for by going /war. RNG/NIN does so little damage now, that it's next to useless in those circumstances. However, to get higher damage, they use /war, but then there's no utsusemi. Hense, they have to be more careful about hate, or they'll get Stonega IV'd by Kirin. :)

Compared to /nin, yes. Compared to what rng/anything had before the nerf? no. But faced with this lemon, those who remain have made lemonade.

in my static last night we had a pickup rng, i parsed 39% while he was the lowest DD at 26%, he was rng/nin. RNG/WAR ftw. im not sure if war or nin has better acc but thats going to be a factor when looking at gear. i was at 89% acc while he was at 77%. ( no he wasnt a *bad* rng)

Basically, from what I have heard, i -think- berserk adds about 50% dmg to Rattks. What I -do- know, is that it is -VERY- noticeable. Pre-patch i did worm's turn with a rng/war, and he opened with zerk up, and was outdamaging me hugely on individual shots (not sure how accuracy rated). /war should not be underestimated.

One reason /war was looked down on pre-nerf was:
1. lack of shadows
2. No dual wield
a) Less Racc
b) Less melee swings
However, it -was- viable then, and I'm expecting to see a large shift to /war from /nin and also that the rng's that keep playing endgame etc. (assuming they use /war) will become experts at managing hate, b/c if hate goes awry and you have zerk up, you will go down very fast.

im not sure if war or nin has better acc but thats going to be a factor when looking at gear.
The downside of war is that there is not an -offhand- weapon available for more racc. This can be remedied by using Sushi, because /war already offers a considerable attk boost with zerk/warcry, as well as the higher base str relative to /nin.

What one guy did and posted on forums is used a HQ fire staff, /war, sushi, a bunch of rattk equip, and some racc equip. He was putting out 600-700 slugwinders on Kirin and hitting for ~100/shot (I assume berserk was up). However, the only conceivable way I can see of putting this kind of damage up is with /war. Therefore, proper hate management is CRUCIAL, because if you draw hate, you're in trouble, especially if berserk is up. This makes playing RNG require a lot more skill at managing hate, however, a good RNG will be able to have similar to pre-nerf dmg on Gods etc with this strat I think (compared to with /nin and all that stuff)

Link to post: (it's still a fairly hot topic, however, I'm feeling a lot better about RNG after reading this)

Meh. In my opinion Monk is the most balanced job in the game (Yeah, I probably seem biased since it is my job and all...). It doesn't need a nerf, nor does it need any upgrading. It's just fine as it is. But, that...Is a totally different discussion.
