Eco-Warrior

For the longest time, everyone has wanted to put together an LS run for the Eco-Warrior Quests. I'm all for it, but there's a little work that would have to go into planning them. There are three Eco-Warrior quests, one for Bastok, Windhurst, and San d'Oria. While you have one, you can't have any others, so they really have to be done one at a time. That being the case, it's hard to propose ideas for exactly what everyone will want to do.

Ideally, if we wanted to make sure everyone got all three of them done, then the Eco-Warrior would have to be run 5 times. The reason is because everyone in the LS is split up among the three cities, and they can't do any other city until they complete it in the city they have the quest for currently. So the Quest would go something like


(Everyone does Eco-Warrior for Bastok in Gusgen, those that have the quest do it then while the others are back-up)
(Everyone does the Eco-Warrior for San d'Oria in Ordelle, those that have the quest do it then as well as those that finished the first Bastok run)
(Everyone does the Eco-Warrior for Windhurst in Shakhrami, those that have the quest do it then as well as those that finished the first Bastok and first San d'Oria run)
(Everyone does the Eco-Warrior for San d'Oria in Ordelle, those that finished the Windhurst run)
(Everyone does Eco-Warrior for Bastok in Gusgen, those that finished the Windhurst run and those that finished the San d'Oria run do it then)


That would work to get everyone the quest done. The problems are attendance and equipment preparation. To make a party like this work, we really need a full alliance with at least one person that can rez that doesn't take the level restriction hit, and a couple that do not take the level hit to guide the party to the spawn site and take care of agro monsters along the way. The monster itself is a level 20 monster with about 10 times the normal amount of HP, hits twice as hard, but has otherwise normal defenses. For those that haven't done one of these fights, these fights are very difficult, and should not be underestimated. Running these bum-naked except for a couple pieces of armor and a weapon might not do the trick. Even if the Non-level restricted members take agro, they can't do anything to defend themselves from the Eco-monster. They won't be able to help with the Eco-Monster whatsoever, except to take care of outside agro.

There are, however, a couple of "cheats" I wanted to try, if anyone is interested.


A unrestricted WHM in the party very high level does a Divine Curaga to take the hate. The monster, being a level 20~monster doesn't do an awful lot to the WHM, but the WHM can keep the hate by healing himself. This prevents the restricted members from taking too much hurt
A high level paly perform a protect for a hate taking member of the restricted party. Again, the Eco-Monster shouldn't do too much to hurt the High Level
Allow outside creature to wander near to the Eco-Monster and an unrestricted BLM casts AOEs, perhaps see if AOE hits the Eco-Monster
An Unrestricted SMN summons one of the Avatars, takes the hate, and sees if the Avatar still goes in to the "Protect the Summoner" mode. If so, then the Avatar would make for a nice chunk of damage in comparison to the level restricted members.


If anyone has any more ideas, I'd love to hear them. Otherwise, this would be a good thread to start planning times to do it and for everyone to sign up. Please remember, for a quest involving this many people, it would be best to plan it at least a week in advance, maybe two depending on how fast everyone responds.

To refresh everyone's memory, the reward for these quests is 5,000 gil and a book that awards exp, usually around 800-1000, and above average amounts of fame.

Hey all, I'm looking to get my eco warrior out of hte way so I can continue my missions finally, hehe. As some of you know, I happened across a not so nice little loop in the game. The npc in ordelles cave for the eco quest happens to be the exact same one for my mission 4. For some reason, he seems fanatical about me finishing the eco quest before he'll let me do my mission, effectively blocking me from getting anywhere past my lowly rank2, for which I've decided I hate him :(

Now I've heard that this particular quest is a pain and requires a decent amount of man power. Both those who are can drop to the lvl 25 cap and help with the monster fight at the end and other higher lvls that can provide chaperone duty to make sure we get down to him safely.

Unfortunately, until June my 2 jobs are going into overdrive and I'm currently working 7 nights a week without too much time to game. But it looks like this thursday night I may just have enough time to pull this off if I'm lucky. So I'm gonna try to do this on thursday April 29th at around midnight EST, when I get back from work. I know it's not the greatest time for something like this, but my options are extremely limited. If anyone plans on being on that late and would like to help out that would be great, I'll also see if I can round up some people in Sandoria that night to fill out whatever is missing. At least, here's to hoping :D

when I did the eco warrior for san d, we tried to have our higher level whm heal us in the party, for some reason he was not allowed to do so. We also had a higher level person standing by in case we were about to get creamed, which we did since the whm was not able to perform cures. He was also not able to interfere with the quest, so in short our party died. I would recommend sticking to the full alliance tatic which we all know will work. I would hate to hear about a tradgey that could be advoided...be careful please. :slidinggl

I would love to see one of these organized just for the experience of having done them all. As starz (65 drg) I won the sandy ecowar but got my butt wooped on the bastok one (nasty slimes' aoe and poor coordination). No experience with windy ecowar. Starburst has the windy one activated atm. Whenever you all plan on doing this let me know.

Well it lvled caps you down so people can take any lvl job (min 20 I think) they like just for grins. Even so, I'd have to say that the sandy one is easy (just one mob) Indirect quote from the taru mnk in the cartoon "I hit it, and I hit it, and I hit it!" :whacked:

I know I earlier stated I liquidated my 20 gear, but I forgot about my Lizard Armor. I can go fully equipped as 20 SAM if anyone is putting together an Eco in the near future. I've done all 3 in the past, have none accepted currently.

I'm not quite familiar with getting things posted as an events but if it counts for anything I would like to request an eco-war event. This would allow the entire ls to participate (I'm assuming everyone is at least lvl 20 in one job with a decent sub) and it would be great team work/organization practice. Most members would need some notice in order to collect their low lvl gear. Very little fame is required for these quests again allowing linkshell wide attendance.

Well, if I can get enough people for an alliance to post here, maybe we can put together an event where a lot of us finish Windy's Eco-Warrior. I know some people have others activated too, and we could just run the gamut through them one Saturday or something.

I'm not entirely sure how to organize something like that, but I'd do my best if it helped some other people out. ^^

I've done the Windurst one and know it can be done easily with 2 SMN and at least 2 others.

I currently have the Bastok one logged... desperate to do it as I never know anyone to do this quest, can do it as RDM, BLM, WHM, RNG, WAR, NIN, THF, don't have any equip for them I don't think but I can buy, don't think you need good equip if you do it right.

We ended up doing Windy with like 14 people, 1 person died from poison, and it was a group of nubs, very easy, 2 SMNs do Seering Lights on the 2 Side monsters when they spawn and then everyone hits the main, even if a few die, they can be raised and they can still touch the ??? and complete the quest

I've done all of these before and had mixed results. I'd love to do them with people that aren't aggro monkeys, get left behind and then run up to the alliance with 43 gobs chasing them screaming help.

I still have my 20 gear for a few jobs :)

I've only done the Sandy one. But I don't have any ECO warrior quests logged right now so I can do any of them. I can go as NIN or THF. I don't have equipment or space for any others.

well if there is renewed response from enough, we could shout in Jeuno and the coresponding cities to get the remaining player numbers up. Shouldn't be a problem with too much aggro, we'll take it slow and ensure that everyone understands everything carefully. A quick discussion at the point where you are applied with the "oil" that limits you to level 20 should be enough to make sure no one touches the '???' until everyone is ready and no one is in doubt as to their role in the alliance etc. If we can set a date and agree which one to do first, then we should definitely get it done... I know *how* to do the Windy one, once we have a date, I'll make sure I research all 3 and make sure that I have '???' locations for them all too. Not sure where Sandy one is, probably Gheslba Outpost which I'm not overly familiar with, but I'm familiar with Palborough Mines due to BCNM40s and same with Maze due to being rfom Windurst.

So woohooo and more bumpups, lets get these quests finished :D we can do Windy first if you like and Bastok second, because there seems to be Sandy Eco-Warrios on much more often than the others, so even if we don't get time for that one, I'm sure we'll all be able to catch another alliance doing it. But hopefully we'll do all 3 on the same day for sure, once we have an alliance and hopefully someone to tele us all lol the Bastok and Sandy one shouldn't take more than an hour each as we'll have equip ready etc.

Sandy eco-war is in Ordelle's Caves, it is done most often because it is the easiest imo single mob and not too much aggro.

No no you're right as per my experience at least. I did Sandy Eco-War back in the day and I didn't realize at the time that if you had one accepted in another city that you could not help with other eco battles. I came along anyway thinking I could at least help cure the group as they fought, but no luck. When you target people it just says cannot be cast on selected target...although the idea of a high level help is a good one.

I have a set of bone armor because I'm weird and save almost everything for bcnms or quest fights (I love them :\) and I'd be happy to come along or lend it to someone if they need it. I'm sure I could also scrounge out the mage gear...I think I still have a good amount of it with only a few pieces lacking...let me know guys...I'm here if ya need me!!!

Also, people in the cities (esp sandy) from what I've seen love eco; probably for aforementioned reasons by Starz, so for that one you might could shout and get adds. I'm stuck on the Windy Eco also...(gah, I accepted it way back) so if you make a plan for this I'll be at that one first and will come to any that follow where I'm needed. <3

Seems most people need Windy first... although I'm logged Bastok, I can actually get the oil put on me and get lowered too, as can people who haven't done the quest before, so we can help out those who need Windy first up.

Higher level support would be absolutely perfect purely for helping with any aggro. ok gonna start a list of people. Those who need Bastok or Sandy, have got to do the decent thing and help others, and those that need and do Windy must stay and help with the others too, its only fair =) this list is only going from since I bumped the thread up, seeing as I don't want to assume those that wanted to do the quest 3 months ago still want to do it now, as people might have changed their minds or have more pressing matters at hand. Of course anyone wanting on the list need just a quick "add me" post and to update the list themselves on their post and we'll have 14+ in no time (ideally we need 2 x 20SMN, 3 WHM, 3 NIN/PLD and lots of BLMs hehe)

For Eco-Warrior, I have WAR almost ready. Planning on levelling it up tonight and tomorrow night, and subsequently MNK to sub for it. I have a full set of Bone Armor +1 to use.... it's my only level 20 gear. I never invested in any for my WHM :p

I still have to check with my static for overlapping a Wednesday - we only go Mon, Tue, Wed so Thurs and Fri can be open for stuff like this. By all means, keep it earlier and I'll let you know if maybe I can shuffle my schedule at work that day to take an earlier shift and be home in time to make it or alternately, if I can't, it isn't the end of the world <3

I honestly don't mind working to US time, I've played other games which were US based and so didn't have a choice, plus if it means more people can come, I'm happy to wait, I usually do not go to bed until around 5am anyway... I think I am a nocturnal animal x.x;

Either way, I don't mind moving this to a weekend slot, but I'm not sure when is the best time as there seem to be LS events on the weekend and I don't want to encroach on that time. At the same time, I don't want *anyone* to miss out on *any* of the missions... the whole point to doing this thing, as I'm sure was the original intention, is to get the quest done for everyone who is interested... well that's no good if half of us can't make it and still need to do it hehe :D

I tried to get this going but only 1 Neph person came with us on 1 event, apart from Saijen who wasn't a member then but is now and is always up for some fun. Drash was the helpmeister generale for the first promy run but too hard to organise for all Neph, either way I did all 3 Eco's maself and all 3 complete... best idea is to inform a few people and just shout for an alliance, worked for me

ive done all three of these with my previous ls, from past exp.
i know this:

for rdm's and blm's saios armor set is the best, minus the pimp hat. the +2 emity isnt something you want ont he ecomonster.

the high lvl blm aoe doesnt work. we tried it, was kill the lowbie monster that we trained in to it.

bastok eco isnt too tough, he can be easily nuked to death.
sandys eco is the toughest imo, we had 1 guide and 3 uncaped blms for this one, one of them behind everyone, and the other two among them, and it worked very well. all and all, each eco took about an hour for us from beginning to end. hope this helps ^^
