Well this certainly seems to be a recent thing -- up until these DDoS attacks, downtime and congestion was extremely rare. Hopefully things improve to back to where it was.

I wonder if other games are having their own problems because in my MMO career, I've rarely had unexpected issues that was server side. I had my own problems (eg. cable go out or computer freaking out) but those were rare too. These unexpected downtimes are making me sad.

In my personal opinion, it's a matter of RMT. No other game has been so strict about RMT and especially gilselling. If they are so strict and ban the gilsellers from the system, then what else do gilsellers have to do with their time and bandwith than DDoS attacks. IMO its the constant DDoS that tears the system down.

DDoS attacks preventing some ISPs from logging in makes me realize why i hate loggin out everynight never know if your going to get back in.15hrs and counting w/o game. i feel the DTs comming on.

I never hear about stuff like this from other games either, its nuts and something SE has to sort out if is going to keep its big customer base. I cannot believe such a big company has such poor execution. There are games with 4 or 5 times the player base of FFXI and they don't have similar problems and have probably nowhere near the capital SE has to splash about either.

On a side note, you ever had the DTs Rach? I have once or twice, last time was a few years ago, I drank 5 or 6 bottles or red wine over the course of an evening, absolutely slaughtered and went to sleep without drinking any water... woke up about 6 hours later shivvering and shaking worse than Muhammed Ali gettin electrocuted, barely had the strength to turn the tap on to get a drink ><

I almost wonder if it's not the same thing as what happened with that other cable company not too long ago. The cablemodem company blocked port 25 (the port mail goes through usually) to try to control spam, and suddenly POL went 1160 on everyone on that cable network.

Poor programming on SE's part to make everything rely on whether or not POL can get mail or something.

well damn talking to tech support is like talking to my 4,3 yr olds cant get the truth outta anyone. i was told that the DDoS attacks that they thought they fixed last night was in fact not fixed and was pretty much told to F-off and keep hitting the enter key til i can log....................to bad cali is to far to drive in 1 day that way i could walk in and take a sledge hammer to their equipment smash it to little bits look at them and say now heres a valid reason why your crap doesnt work

I couldn't get on for 1/2 of Sunday, and all of Monday.. Finally I contacted a GM through POL, and after telling them my ISP and location, they seemed baffled that I wasn't able to get on. After sitting 'on hold' in the chat room for 15 minutes, they told me to try again. Got in on my first attempt.

sorry nusa sounds like you got the same run around i did just with different words i still cant log on and am getting pretty pissed now....... at least with D2 and CS i just had to put up with the lamers that used game hacks.....never had a 3+ day problem......well i did get in for dyna last night
