All right, I recently started fishing a lot. Since Fleebert wont logon anymore and I can't level BST without him. =( Anyways, currently Lv20 with some skill in, so I'll edit while I go and bump the thread when I do. If anyone cares.

Location: East Ronfaure - Any part of the stream.

And thats as far as I got. Recently tried Jugnar, but rods break really fast. Going to try La Theine next.

20-30 I fished up Jugner.
Composite Rod/Insect Paste.

It went uber fast. One night got me from 20-27 (On a full moon). You fish up Gold Carp(worth 675 a fish to the fishing guild), Dark Bass, and Tri-colored carp. Moat carps show all the time too. I made quite the profit. To avoid fishing up monsters, allign yourself on a cliff with a wall behind you. This prevents fishing up any monsters and allows you to fish without having to worry about monsters. I stayed here from 27-30 also. Now I'm trying to find a place to go. West Sarutabaruta was hard..so I'm going to try South Gustaberg. Anyway, my 2 cents. Oh yeah, not once have I broken my Composite Rod here.

my little 2gil from what I did for fishing. Comp rod is your friend, especially at lower lvls as long as money is not a concern. You won't break it fishin carp, or using a sabiki in the sea. In fact, not many things will break it, and most of htem are found on the ferry. You lose some catches cause it'll say they are too small to catch, but you still get skillups even if you do lose htem from that.

Sandy was a great place to lvl up to 27, since is has moat (cap 11), tricolored (cap 27) and gold (cap 54). 30+ gets tedious with boat fishing, although there are other options I found that alot more bites on boat and alot faster skillups. Thing is, bring like 4-5 comp rods for a boat excursion, you'll break alot of htem, at 43 fishing now and I still break plenty on boat thanks to Noble Lady's.

Anywho, that's basically how I went about it. I had some fishing friends suggest comp/sardine off the saruta cliffs for 30+ but I found that bites are way too few there, just like some say I should do monke-onke now that I'm about mid40's. All I can say on that, is monke-onke are teh suk, no matter what lunar phase you get like a couple bites every half hour, it's so slow. Better to risk rod breaks on boat and skillup quicker, but then again I'm impatient.
