A Japanese player asked me to convey this information to others. It is by no means any type of JPN vs. NA type post, so please don't take it as such.

A number of JPN players are hesitant about partying with NA players for a variety of reasons from being uncomfortable with the language barrier to simply not wanting to PT with NA players. For the latter types, there is not much we can do about it, but for others here's the advice my friend asked me to pass on.

Many JPN player are more willing to PT with NA players if they see that the NA player is willing to make an attempt to understand Japanese and their ettiquette, so it would be good to convey that in your initial contact. For many JPNs, the party configuration is also very important so please include that information when asking them to join a party. The formula that was recommended is:

summimasen, [Team Up?] at [Quifm Island]. (PLD30,WHM30,THF29)

(the [xxx] are the translators)

Obviously there's no guarantee that this will work, but it might make the person your're asking a little more comfortable about joining up. My feeling is that if I'm asking someone from another culture, I'll try to respect the manners of their culture.

Also, I was told that for some JPN players, very short question are sometime considered rude, so a "/tell [Team Up?]" might cause them to simply ignore your tell even though western culture might not think nothing of such a short tell.

hmmm makes sense. Then again it shows how anal they are about small things :) which is why the Japanese are so successful about certain things and not so about others. Anyways good advice :)

I guess things kinda changed now, I've seen lots of NAs with underlv sub LFGing in Jeuno(Not including LFG 58RDM/29THF in jugner somewhere, though Devontkitty is rdm/thf >.>. all the time) and few JPs. But I think they look at your rank and sj(or they tired of waiting for PT).

Now, if I'm inviting JP, I just say: [Hello]PT?^^
Then I'm assuming they go /sea mel all(rank8 ninja kitty <3): [Yes, please]
I say 50/50, unless they have comment stating JP onry.

Even if they say no, I nicely reply: ok^^

thanks for the info Bakslash

when i try and invite a JPN player i just go:

/tell <insert name here> PT ni haitemo ii, nihongo wa amari dekinai no

if they say no i always send a tell back saying: OK <Take care.> ^^

I'll be sure to use the info Bakslash, maybe ill end up making an all JPN pty (aside from me) someday...

Nice try, Maliki!

One thing...

/tell <insert name here> PT ni haitemo ii, nihongo wa amari dekinai no

This means, "Can I join your PT? I'm not so good at Japanese."
I recommend "How is having PT (with me)? though I'm not so good at Japanese."
Here you could go as..

/tell <insert name here> konbanha, PT ikagadesuka? nihongo amari dekinai kedo.

And, Mel's one might work good I think.
Any sucky JP ppl (yeah, I know some of us are really lame.) will never reply you. (of course I'll say [yes, please] to such /tell when I have enough time to have xp PT.^^ )

The biggest difference of many lower-mid level NA PT and JP PT is that JP Party starts and ends together. Where as many NA Parties have just an open door and ppl go and come as they wish :x

As a basic rule when joining a JP Party you should have a minimum of 2 hour of free time avaiable. At late night some JP people might not have so much time - it is always mentioned when you get invited. (Like PT for only 1.5 hrs - ok?)

Another thing is that people might go lfg outside of Jeuno as RDM/THF or something, just cause they do other stuff like farming while lfg. Usually their other subjobs avaiable are written into their search comment.

When people go lfg outside of Jeuno they usually also write their Homepoint into the search comment.

Like said before, for inviting JP players try to include as many information in your invite as possible. Even I have a bad feeling when someone invites me with "Team up ok?" - not to imagine JP players.

Japan Parties love to have an SA TA setup. Mostly after 60+ you will be expected to have both WAR and THF sub leveled as a normal DD for secondary voke or SA TA on tank.

/tel jpplayer U R JP thas SOOOO kewl. Join my PT plz were goin 2 EXP thx

always seemed to work for me....

oO

I can understand the semblance of wishing them to perceive that you are both an intelligent person and respectful of their language, but how looked down upon is the "translator invite"?

/t jpplayer [Excuse me...][Experience points][party][Bibiki Bay][Do you need it?]

More often than not though, I either get a yes, or I get no response at all. I know we play in different timezones, but the way I get no responses I think most time that they just aren't responding, because no one goes afk that often when seeking.

SO true! Almost every pick up NA PT I was getting as my smn would break after about an hr. because the people just came and went whenever. Personally, it takes me a good 30 min before I even get to know the other people's play style. Oh and I especially enjoy buying a choco, getting to camp, and the PT disbanding because someone didn't let the party leader know they had to go soon.... LS parties and a static were my solution. ^^

I like the Jpn way much better when it comes to partying, I hate hate hate telling my party "Guys, let me know 30 minutes in advance before you leave party" and then have EVERY member who leaves give you a "Sry, gtg bye! Thx 4 party"
GRRRRR! I'd like it much better if people would stay with a party!

Yar - I think this is one of the main reasons JP fear when joining an NA party. They had established manners of PT for 1.5 years and then NA coming with the "Wild West" manners haha. I blame noone cause mainly noone told the new NA ppl nor do I believe in "Its a game of JP origin , you have to play their rules". But I prefer good PT manners.... most JP have it... many NA dont. And if you have a bad day and dont feel good - many wide spread NA manners just can give you the rest and let you swaer on and doom this game ^ ^

But you have to note one thing. I dont think something like "JP PT rule, NA PT suck". Most JPs you get to PT with are second Jobs. They already have one Job up and know whats going on. Many JP first timers I met were not really good or kick ***.
