Adjustments to Ranged Attacks

As a result of adjustments to make ranged attack damage differ according to the distance from the target, jobs that specialize in ranged attacks have suffered a decrease in performance. In the next version update, we plan to reassess the adjustments made to accuracy and attack power according to distance from target.

[The Distance Calculation and Added Effects]
Ranged attack damage and accuracy are currently adjusted by a calculation based on the distance of the player from the enemy target. However, we plan to decrease the values for ranged accuracy and ranged attacks used in this calculation. This will ensure that the calculation will no longer largely eliminate the enhancements given by meals and equipment. Instead, the effects will be added directly to the player's attributes.

For example, if a player eats sushi, he will be able to largely compensate for the accuracy adjustment, and if a player eats meat, he will be able to compensate for the damage adjustment.

[Changes to Distance Adjustments]
We plan to slightly widen the range in which players can deal out maximum damage using bows, crossbows, and other distance weapons, as well as ease the decrease in accuracy and attack power that comes the farther the player is from the target.

Job Adjustment: Dark Knight

Timing will soon be more important when using the Absorb-TP spell, which was added in the July version update.

[TP Absorption Amount Adjustment]
Currently, the amount of TP an enemy possesses has little effect on the amount absorbed by the Absorb-TP spell. We plan to decrease the amount of TP absorbable from enemies with few remaining TP so that players will have to consider the timing of the spell.

Job Adjustments: Dragoon

Dragoons will receive adjustments to jump abilities and will be able to copy the Stoneskin effect to their wyverns.

[Job Ability: Spirit Surge]
The recast time for the Jump, High Jump, and Super Jump job abilities will be reset when using Spirit Surge.

[Job Ability: Super Jump]
The recast time for Super Jump will change from 5 minutes to just 3 minutes. In accordance, the merit point Group 1 category "Super Jump Recast" will allow players to shorten recast time by 6 seconds instead of 10.

[Job Trait: Empathy]
Players who have acquired the Empathy job trait will be able to copy the Stoneskin effect to their wyvern when using the job ability Spirit Link.

In addition to the above adjustments, the next version update will also feature changes to the summoner job. Keep checking the main page for details in the next few days!

SE: We've decided we's made a grave error during the evolution of the Red Mage job and we would like to correct it. Now all Red Mages that melee in an experience points party will be granted +20 Enfeebling skill and Magic Accuracy +20. We would like to see more meleeing Red Mages. Keep watching for more job enhancements.

lol.

I like that they're making the adjustments to range attack.. I dunno if I like the change to Absorb-TP.. It's pretty darn cool now.. but I guess that's why they have to "fix" it...

This should be interesting to see where this update takes Ranger. I knew the damage and rng acc calculations were all screwed up from my experiences fighting the gods pre/post nerf and doing dynamis pre/post nerf. I dont even have to talk about how broke rng acc was when attacking low level mobs for farming and NM fights.

The nerf realy never changed my style of play significantly because I remained a melee rng I just moved back to sweet spot location for WS. Honestly the best thing he nerf did for me was elliminate all the job hoppers from ranger and allow us dedicated Rangers to get more of an opportunity to get better gear and a chance to stand out. I would have never gotten 5/5 RNG if the july 2005 update never happened because conviction had an alot of Rangers and my dynamis lots suck hard. I have pretty much the best gear available for RNG so I am realy looking foward to getting more exp invites after the update and rocking the COP storyline with my fix rng acc and rng atk.

As for RDM "If it is not broken, dont fix it." unless you want SE making adjustments to your job you may not enjoy.

Also I realy think the only reason the changes came about were from COR, and SAM in addition to the other jobs that can use ranged attacks. It only took SE 15 months to get around to refining their initial hasty changes to the Ranger job. SE may be slow at adjustments but at least they aren't as slow as Uncle Sam. Most likely the changes come from the ammount of complaints from all the other jobs trying to use ranged attacks as oppossed to complaints from the Rangers themselves. Just like it was everyone else that complained about arrowburns and not the Rangers complaining. Its funny though I hear the prices of my Ranger equipment rising on the Carbuncle server as I type this.

Does anyone else have any predicitions to how much of a change in the number of people playing ranger or the ammount of money Ranger gear will go up after the update?

RDM is not broke, but you can always improve a job... granted sometimes these improvements are in the negative direction.... btw yay smns! Congrats on your update.

I don't think stuff will go up too badly. Only stuff I see rising significantly wouldd be E. Bow and that's largely because it has deflated in value a lot recently.
