Death to Nephilim!!

We've mentioned this a few times, and many people like the idea. I for one am all for it and would be happy to participate.

The idea is for a Linkshell meeting, full attendance requested. Everyone will gather in one of the cities in a very public place. Everyone will be on a level 1 through 3 character, so no one takes exp loss.

We will have poison potions available for everyone, and everyone gets one before we begin.

We all take the poison potion, and allow ourselves all to die in the middle of town. For those of you who enjoy the WTH look of one dead person in the middle of town, imagine the WTH?!? we'd get for 30 or so people dead in town.

It would definitely be a FFXI first and I think a humurous LS event. Gives us time to chat and stuffs.

Quite a few of us are up for it, for everyone willing to participate what we need to do it set up a date. It might also be fun to give the date an Honor, such as "In rememberance of Flixblix" or something equally as atrociously funny. (To refresh your memory Flixblix is the Gobby good guy that bites it in Rank 5 mission story)

You guys tell me what you think a good day would be, I'm up for it whenever. I die a few times each day, so might as well schedule it for once. 8p

I've already mentioned this, but I made a bunch of poison potions while skilling up my alchemy and I had about 4 stacks return from the AH. They are now the "Death to Nephilim" poison potions so don't bother buying any :P I've got ya covered. :D

I think I've narrowed it down so that our holiday and many other holidays coincide a little.

May 4th will be a day of lunar eclipse. Yay, but no Yay. There's a lunar eclipse at this time (Unfortunately you'd have to be in Africa to see it.)

April 29-May 5 will be holidays in Japan, celebrating Golden Week. Within Golden Week, there are 4 different holidays, but the one I'd focus on is May 5th, which is Kodomono-hi (Children's Day) also called Tangono-sekku. Historically, it was a day to celebrate the health of male children, but has grown to encompass more celebrating the growth of children.

May 5th is also called Cinco de Mayo, (May 5th in spanish) and is the day of celebration of Mexican Independance. To most of us, we might not care less about mexican independance, but actually we could celebrate that it marks the last time a foreign power was ever an aggressor in North American soil. There has never been a war on US or even North America since.

Also of significance to the US, May 5 is the anniversary of the first American in space! Okay, so we weren't there first...But hey, putting a man in space wasn't a small step for us.

For the sports nuts, May 5th was the first ever Perfect Baseball Game, in 1904 by Cy Young.

For Daevik and Bloodscream, heads up that May 7th is your holiday! National No Pants Day is coming! Celebrate early, I say! 8)

May 5th beginning Astronomy week and some of the biggest star-gazing celebrations begin tonight, mostly in the four corners regions of the US.

For food, this pretty much caps the start of National Hamburger Month, too. Burgers sound good for dinner to me. It's also in the middle of national Eat Desert First Week, and May 5th just so happens to be Chocolate Custard Day. {Hmmm...}.

And you'll like this one.

May 5th is celebrated as Scrapbook Day! Around the US, elementary schools will be having children put together little books with snippets of their lives and events. Appropriate me say to those that can't wait to get this whole event on film. 8)

May 5th will be a Wednesday, which I like the thought of doing this on a weekday, so we aren't pulling everyone in Neph away from peak leveling times.

So as always, everyone gets their say in what day to do this, but May 5th looks like a great chance to and gives us a couple of weeks to prep. Everyone let me know if it works for you. Also, I'd love to give this day a little significance in-game. Maybe call it "Goblin's Day" or something, but we could actually role-play celebrating an in-game holiday. Never in all the time I've played games has there ever been (to my knowledge) a in-game holiday that didn't coincide with a major actual holiday. We might help create the first fictional holiday 8)

and on their event calender it says that on April 23rd they will be having a group photo directly followed by a massive shell suicide in lower jeuno.
Sooooo just wanted everyone to be aware of this.

Then again, take note their suicide is a group photo and a mass suicide. Ours is an actual celebration. Ours has meaning, theirs is just for show.

Joking. Ok, maybe not funny. In all actuality, I sent a small message inviting Requiem to join us our day. It hardly makes sense to do two LS deaths 2 separate days. But on that note, we won't be prepared enough to get a good turn out for theirs if they absolutely intend on doing it Thursday. I'm hoping they'll agree to postpone til we are all ready to go, I'm sure everyone will agree 50 corpses in Jueno would be so much more amusing than 30. Who knows, with that many, we might get volunteers from passer-bys to join us.

I just wish I had a contact to mention the whole idea to Foodmonsters.

Please. The event sounds absolutely fun as an LS event, and a lot more fun as a combined LS event. I personally believe we 3 are among the top LS for NA players on Carbuncle. I'm sure there are lots more, and quite a few other big linkshells, but we three seem most adamant about recruiting quality before quantity, and still have such a large size.

They both have time to plan, May 5th gives them 2 weeks notice to see if they are interested. And please extend the same courtesy I extended Requiem. I will use my own money to buy the poisons they'll need from Juell. Heya, gives Juell plenty of work 8)

I would like to know as quick as possible how many will attend, so I can figure out how many potions we'll need.

I live on the West Coast of the US, and I've noticed most people dont go by PST. So anytime after 3 PM PST is good for me.

I set the LSMES to reflect the event, I almost always set event times at 6:00 PST. A worst, that's 9:00 EST, or 10:00 for some very New England states, which isn't too bad for an event time.

Okay, so Requiem wanted to go ahead and do theirs yesterday. Oh well, still doesn't change the fact that this was our idea. I came up with this back in Celestial, which for those of you that don't remember then, Celestial crashed in November last year. My Vicent and Xangel were on the verge of setting up a plan for this before they crashed, so Requiem wasn't even a baby in daddy's eye back then.

This is our event, we have our own reasons for doing it, and its a celebration, not a mass suicide. But that is up to everyone else. If everyone says we'd look bad going on May 5th, let me know.

Take note everyone, this event is still planned, still working. Requiem is in, Foodmonsters is most likely in, Shojuken was supposedly in (but I haven't gotten a hold of them in game). We have several that want to join that aren't in any of our LS', volunteer martyrs I guess it would be.

Juell, I will start fishing tonight for yellow globes and will start crafting some myself. I project we'll need around 120 potions minimum, maybe close to double that if there are party crashing cures and poisonas coming, which I won't rule out after Requiems D-Day.

In a way I'm glad Requiem did theirs because it gives me an idea of what to expect from some passerbys. It occured to me once hearing about it that some people's idea of fun is to attempt to ruin the event for others. I consider it a trial run for the full force event.

The plan is to supply everyone with their potions a minimum of one hour before the event, and if possible I'd like to get everyone 2 potions. I'd like to see everyone get assorted level 1 gear so we aren't in the buff while K.O.'d, but I don't see a need to buy gear specifically for this event. There are alternatives, such as fishing and harvesting clothes which are more than suitable.

To tie this in with my current crafting, I'm gaining off of making Field Hose, so if anyone is willing to volunteer to go sheep hunting with me and fish with me, I'd greatly appreciate the support.

I'm really looking forward to this, and I'll be talking about the regularly in the LS chat over the weekend.

I wasn't sure whether I'd need to make more or not, but I'll get right on it now that I know I do. Hehe.. I really hope no one tries to poisona or cure us, but I really wouldn't put it past them. >.<

I never realized suicide was so popular this time of year :consider: Honestly, while this would be unique, and seems to have been done already, there are... better ways to bring attention to Nephilim, if that is the idea. It's more of a "bring everyone back together" type of event. Reminds everybody of what it used to be like when we were newbies. Most people don't have time to get together and just screw around anymore, but events like this reminds us of what it was like when we had plenty of time to waste.

Ok, I understand the spirit of the event, it's just the manifestation I find... curious. Would it not be more fun to simply have everyone get together and chat? Or have a huge game of cap 20 ballista (that everyone can do) or something? Tbh, perhaps in the way it's described/talked about, this event seems to be as much about getting attention as it does about "just getting together to have a good time".

Most people don't have time to get together and just screw around anymore, but events like this reminds us of what it was like when we had plenty of time to waste.

Forgive me for taking a somewhat glum approach to this statement, but isn't playing FFXI in and of itself goofing around and wasting time? I enjoy it, but it seems kinda redundant to add "waste of time" to waste of time. Anyway, perhaps I am just in a sour mood today.

For the people who want to attend this sort of thing, it is not a waste of time. And yes, seeing people's reactions to big circle of dead people in the middle of Jeuno is funny. We even had some random people come up and join us, or dance around in the middle of the circle, lol. It's a nice break from the same old stuff you do every day in ffxi. If you don't think you would enjoy it then don't go.
