In the upcoming version update, we plan to introduce two new dark knight spells, as well as implement changes to Signet that will improve party play for smaller groups.

Signet Bonuses

The adjustments made to improve player accuracy and attack versus monsters of a higher level, as well as the measures implemented to benefit full parties and prevent unfair pulling practices, have made it difficult for smaller groups to cooperate efficiently against weaker opponents.

In order to address this issue, the following bonuses will be added to the Signet effect in the upcoming version update:
- Increased Healing HP
- No TP loss while resting
- Bonus experience earned in smaller parties
- Increased defense and evasion against attacks from your auto-attack target

- Increased Healing HP
The initial value for Healing HP (based on the character's level), as well as the incremental jumps in Healing HP (based on the character's maximum HP), will be increased.
This change will improve Healing HP in a similar fashion to the bonus granted to Healing MP by the Clear Mind job trait.

- No TP loss while resting
While this bonus is in effect, TP will not be lost while resting.
This will allow players to rest fully for their next battle while still maintaining the store of TP they had built from their previous opponent.

- Bonus experience in small groups
The amount of experience earned while in smaller parties will be increased.
This bonus will be applied on the following scale:

*The experience earned for defeating special monsters will remain unaffected.

- Increased defense and evasion against attacks from your auto-attack target
Players will gain a bonus to their defense and evasion against their auto-attack target.
This bonus only applies to attacks from an opponent who you are auto-attacking with a drawn weapon. There is no effect against attacks from other sources, including monsters that unexpectedly join the fray.
*This bonus will only apply to monsters that check as "even match" or weaker to the player.

The bonuses described above will only take effect when a player has received Signet, and is within the usual Signet-specific areas.
These bonuses do not apply during Ballista, or other PvP events.

New Dark Knight Spells

The following dark knight spells will be introduced in the upcoming version update.

- Drain II (Lv.62 Recast Time: 3 minutes Duration: 1 minute)
Steals an enemy's HP, potentially increasing maximum HP. Ineffective against undead.

HP drained that exceeds the amount necessary to fully heal the dark knight will temporarily boost maximum HP.
As well as healing the dark knight, this spell should prove useful in providing extra HP for abilities such as Souleater.

- Dread Spikes (Lv.71 Recast Time: 3 minutes Duration: 1 minute)
Covers you with magical darkness spikes. Steals HP from enemies that hit you. Ineffective against undead.

While Dread Spikes is in effect, the dark knight will drain an amount of HP from an enemy corresponding to the amount of damage inflicted by each of the enemy's attacks.
Dread Spikes will wear off after the dark knight has absorbed an amount of HP equal to a certain percentage of his maximum HP, regardless of the remaining duration.

*The effect of Dread Spikes will be adjusted during PvP.

The HP absorbed by the reactive effect of Dread Spikes will not generate enmity for the dark knight.
*The dark knight will still be KO'd if a single attack inflicts an amount of damage that exceeds his remaining HP.

Dark spells seem pretty good but i dont play DRK. Signet changes seem pretty sweet and I wonder how they will transfer over into dynamis.

BTW SE WHERE ARE THE NEW UNCAPPED BST JUGS

Exp bonus in smaller groups and enhanced def and eva vs. ~EM mobs? that's a BST buff if I ever heard one. >.>

Even BSTs don't duo on EM mobs.

The exp bonus isn't just on lower mobs, the def/eva is. ;x

The original article doesn't state any evidence that it will be on T+ mobs as well (the example chart gives EM only) but you're right, the def/eva bonus appears to specifically be for EM or below.

my bst lvls on EM >.>

i'm only 13 though. i wonder if SE's going to make the new drk spells ksnm or drops from toau bcs or some other crap, or just npc sellable. i get the sense that drk mobs in besieged (if there are any) will be really nasty to deal with if there's no dispel. drk maat fight is going to be more of an rdm-ish one too, if spikes and drain spells have to be dealt with.

as far as signet, it seems SE knows the majority of the population is in endgame, and that fact alienates new players. letting new people get to 30 or 40 range with a lot less pain might help that, i guess.

I'm pretty sure that they arent going to add these new abilities to mobs that are already there. same with maat.

they tend to leave them alone and not change their behavior.

you left a part out.

se: At this time we dp not plan on making any updates to blue mage, nor any new armor, and we will never release AF2 due to the fact were too stupid to write in 3 new jobs to dynamis. and too many players are more concerned about "sticking to the original story line" than giving the 3 toua classes dynamis items.

also, we would like to add that soooo many more people care about loldrk than blu. due to these new updates, we are happy to announce youll be seeing papa roach macros every 3 min. and sometimes even in shout.

The Def/Eva bonus part is to combat those ******* bards who hold mobs for xp chains. I ran across this in Garlaige basement and it almost got me killed during a pet swap. I imagine there are a few unannounced changes also, like increased sleep resistance for mobs your party is not directly fighting. Hopefully these guys will get pounded by the extra mobs they try to hold.

Oh come on look how long it took for them to get af2 out for the regular jobs. If you keep on whinning about doesn't mean SE will get it out any quicker. SE is trying to do things that impact the whole player base and not just the people who play blu, pup, and cor which unfortunatly is not that many people.

I think if we're finally getting AF2, they're going to not reveal it, and someone's just going to happen upon it randomly and then freak out. Just to prevent a massive rush of everyone trying for it at the same time. But that's just me >.>

It's possible I guess that SE would release new job AF2 in Assault I suppose in Nyzul Isle but I'm really hoping it is obtained in the normal means other AF2 is in Dynamis. I'm not sure where SE would place BLU, COR, and PUP NM's in Dynamis though. We'll have to wait and see.

Laitha

no it wouldn't be a surprise like woah af2 but instead we would see it in the dat files first. I just dont think new job af2 is a big concern for SE due to the fact 95% of the people that play ffxi didn't have one of those new jobs as their first job to 75 like crow. Look for af2 in the dat files or patch notes if SE feels like telling people they put it in there.

More people play the new jobs than you think... I suppose PUP might be an oddball job out there but there are a ton of BLU's out there. There's quite a few COR's too.
