I'm really bad at making money. :(
I'm looking for tips on the best items to craft; items with a consistent history, and those which cost little to make and have good return. I am willing to take less profit if it sells quicker (and preferrably more profit if it takes longer to sell). I am open to either purchasing materials off AH, from NPC, but would like to limit farming to only that which drops easily (i.e.: not silk thread..i have bad luck with it).
I'd be up for the research if I have the time but I don't, and although I've been back little over a month my up-to-date game knowledge is still limited so I think at this point its better to ask seasoned crafters. I have Clothcraft, Bonecraft, Leathercraft, Cooking and Woodworking all between 45-57, and need to make them profitable before pursuing more skillups.
Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions!
P.S.: Didn't put this in crafting forum; didn't think it would get enough notice :)

Saqq your best bet is to research consumables. I'd suggest this website:
www.ffxiah.com
This site is the jeuno auction house. It also has a plethora of information including synths for every craft, what they cost off the AH and whether or not you would make or loose gil depending on HQ etc. This site is really good for doing that.
Always keep in mind though if you have a good idea about making something that makes gil, RMT and other crafters know about it too. So it's best to not just stick to one thing, but many things. Broaden and make a variety of different things. It will take time, but you will make gil.
Like I said consumables are the way to go. Things that people use up and use often is the most consistent way to make gil. Getting a high level craft and hoping to HQ that really expensive peice of gear or something isn't all that reliable. Believe me I've spent thousands of gil trying to HQ crimson legs. I have yet to do it.
These are my ideas and what work for me. Check out that website. Trust me, you will find what will work for you.

sadly, good research, along with trial and error, is something i dont have time for between 3 classes, 5 jobs, family, boyfriend, dog, dynamis, limbus, tv shows, etc. and ffxiah is rough too because many supplies for some of what i do know are semi-popular consumables are stocked and cheaper at city AH's (such as fletchings and arrowheads).
just looking for any kind of quick response for today's better known consistent money earners.

Sounds like you're pretty busy but the concept of Gil -> Craft -> More Gil isn't an easy one. It really is something one must figure out on their own. ffxiah.com should give u plenty of info. One thing I will add, you dont always have to sell what you make on a Jeuno AH...

There are no quick answers to crafting for gil. If you don't have time for research, I would have to guess you also don't have time to farm materials, which is really the only way to profit imo.
The only suggestions I have is to watch the AH, rotate the items you sell, farm and buy the majority of your materials from NPCs rather that AH.

My current belief is that everything is more or less the same. If there were any synths that were more profitable than other synths, they would have been discovered long ago and exploited.
Whether you sell things quickly with low profit margin or sell things slowly with high profit margin, it all works out the same in the end. Personally, I prefer to sell slower because it means I don't have to craft as often to keep my AH slots full. If you're trying for profit and skillup, you might want to consider synths that sell quickly with a smaller profit margin.
Everybody is looking for an edge. For some, the edge comes from lowering material costs by buying from vendors or farming. For others, crafting items that require high skill or a particular subcraft is the way to go because there are relatively fewer people with the prerequisites to make that item.
I always try to get my materials for the lowest possible cost. For cooking this means I have a mule in each city able to access all of the regional vendors and merchants. I stay away from things like sushi because the profit margin is nonexistant if you can't catch your own fish. I also try to stay away from recipes where many of the ingredients can only be farmed or purchased on AH because I hate farming and sometimes there's none on sale.
Look on ffxiah.com for things you can make that sell reasonably quickly and are at least break-even on NQ synth. Then figure out how much cheaper than AH you can obtain the materials. Multiply your profit per stack by the rate that stacks sell and you can see how much potential profit per day can be made off that synth.
Keeping in mind that the market is well-saturated, figure out how much of that profit you can claim without triggering an undercutting war. If something only sells maybe 1-2 per day, don't go dumping 7 on AH all at once. Nobody wants to have their stuff returned to them (supply > demand) so they will undercut to try to ensure that *their* stuff sells before yours.
